My name is Mariam Jaffar, I am a native English speaker, currently residing in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa.
After completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, I successfully obtained an Honours degree in Educational Psychology. I continuously strive to keep abreast with teaching methodologies and challenge myself to learn new facets and disciplines of teaching. I have most recently acquired a TEFL certificate to teach English as a second language.
My teaching style is a reflection on some of my personal strengths: I am passionate, confident, extremely patient, nurturing, great at communication and interacting with people of any age group and cultural background. I am always organised, which for me is important as we need to always work with the end in mind, understanding students’ needs and setting clear and measurable goals to work towards. This reassures me as a teacher, and also gives the learner a sense of accomplishment. Feedback and transparency is important to me, as it provides me with an opportunity to reflect and adapt change, which has helped me over the past 10 years to become the great teacher that I am today!
