I'm currently based in Washington DC. I've taught English to the children of migrant workers in Shanghai, China and a number of private students over the years but I've mainly focused on two primary aspects of English Language Acquisition with my students: 1.) Accent Reduction in Standard Dialects (In either General American English ... "GenAm" or Received Pronunciation... "RP") 2.) Learning fundamental grammatical rules and also exploring the depths of English Vocabulary.
My exposure to RP or British English comes from early training in theatre where vocal coaches would teach their students the nuances of Received Pronunciation. So if accent reduction is something you seek to improve, please include when you purchase lessons, your preferred dialect. If you focus more on the UK, then you will need to learn fundamental differences between American and British spellings which I can teach you such as "fetus" and "foetus," "color" and "colour" and even different words for the same thing such as "truck" and "lorry."
The world of business... if improving your Business English is something you seek to do, then I can I teach you terms associated with technology, finance and economics (which was my undergrad focus). You will need to learn a number of expressions in basic conversation settings and a reduced accent will go a long ways towards impressing and ingratiating yourself with colleagues and business partners. English is the language of flight, finance, business, technology, space and social media. It is a necessary component in the 21st century. Don't hesitate, go ahead and book a few lessons with me. :)
This course does not assume fluency in English and I could communicate primarily in French and Spanish as other languages of communication, however, this course assumes some English knowledge and is more for students who already have a working knowledge of basic or immediate English and would like to take their skills to a fluent level. Students should expect our conversations to be in English, however, I know you will make mistakes and fully encourage students to not be shy. :)
