A professional German teacher for nearly four years, I enjoy teaching students from all over the world. It has been great to be able to help others learn a language and immerse themselves in a new culture. After successfully completing a TEFL course, I worked as an English teacher at summer schools in the UK. I first started teaching German in northern Italy, then worked as a freelance German teacher for three months in Toronto, and later gained online teaching experience from June 2016 to February 2017. I taught German at companies and language schools in Baden-Württemberg, Germany from August 2016 to August 2018. During this time, I also completed an online certificate in German teaching methodology and practice at the Goethe Institut. In July 2018, I transitioned to teaching online.
Improving your speaking and listening skills will be the main focus of my lessons. They are the first skills you will need when using German in your daily life. After all, it is possible to improve your reading competency by yourself, but it is difficult to lose your fear of speaking and making mistakes if you decide to learn a language on your own. If you wish to work on your writing skills, I will be happy to help you as well.
After learning English and studying and working in English-speaking countries, I can empathize with the struggles of someone who is learning a new language and/or who has recently moved abroad. I’m currently trying to improve my French and Spanish, and I find that taking private lessons are the best way to learn to communicate and stay motivated.
I plan lessons according to each learner's particular needs and interests, which is why I choose topics that are relevant to the student. I often create my own lesson material, such as word puzzles, questionnaires, or role play material. I want my students to feel engaged, at ease and motivated to keep learning, so I try to make my lessons as fun and effective as possible.
