Su di me

With almost 7 years of experience as language tutor, and a great passion for spreading Italian culture and language, I think I can be top notch for this job!
My first language is Italian, as I was raised from an Southern Italian family through the vibrant streets of Naples,
basking in the sun and tasting its mouthwatering delicacies of Italian tradition.
I have an IELTS certificate 8.5 (with 9 in reading and speaking), but I also speak Japanese fluently (JLPT N1). In 2014 I got my BA in Comparative Studies (English and Japanese), completing an MA in Japanese studies at Leiden University, one of the top 30 universities in the world for Humanities.
Recently, after two years and a half of research in Japan (Sophia University, TUFS and the University of Tokyo), I've embarked on a three year journey that will take me to become a doctor in Japanese studies at the University of Cambridge, UK and I will start soon as TA there.

An incredible passion to teach has driven me all the way to this path, as my biggest dream is to teach in the academia one day.
I love sharing knowledge and I believe learning languages is like opening multiple windows on several different worlds. I wish to spread this philosophy as much as I can.
One of the things I always do is tailoring the lessons to the student's needs, consulting them first and understanding together what the aims we want to achieve are. Only through collaboration can excellent results be achieved.
I love using songs and videos, especially with intermediate students and I use conversation as a tool to pin on improving grammar, listening and vocabulary.
Since I was 21 I have been living abroad (Tokyo, London, Leiden, Cambridge) with locals and internationals and this has given me a wide understanding of different cultures which helps me communicating with people from all over the world.
At the end of the day, though, what really matters is that we always approach the others with an open mind. I really hope to share this with my students, along with notions about Italian culture, cuisine and Italian lifestyle!
