My name is Matthew and I am a 21 year-old student from South Africa. I am currently studying linguistics, Portuguese and English and I have lived in Mexico for half a year. I am a qualified TEFL/TESOL English teacher and I have a year of experience teaching high school students.

I have always had a passion for languages and I spend a large amount of time every day learning foreign languages. I can speak 4 languages (English, Afrikaans, Spanish and Esperanto) and am hoping to add another 6 to that list in the future. I know what it takes to learn a foreign language and I have developed my own method method that I am sure you can benefit from as well.

I am a very relaxed person and I believe that in order to be a good teacher, you need to make the lessons enjoyable and completely without stress. That means I do my best to be easy to talk to, I make sure that you feel comfortable and that lessons are always fun and entertaining. I don't judge at all and you never need to feel afraid to make mistakes when speaking to me. I believe that making mistakes and learning from them is a very important part of mastering a new language. I am passionate about English and so I will do my best to make sure that you can learn to love the language as much as I do!

My lessons will involve assessing your current level of English, identifying your motivation for learning the language and the goals that you want to reach. My teaching style is relaxed and easy-going, however I will make sure to always prepare well for the lessons by having activities to do and by assigning short homework assignments that we can correct and analyse together. I believe that having conversations is very important to become fluent in a language so I will allow you to do most of the talking and provide corrections at the end of the lesson. We can talk about your favourite movies, your hobbies or whatever interests you! Ultimately, I want you to enjoy the lessons that we have!
