Hello, and thank you for considering me on your English-learning journey! I teach adults who are of intermediate-advanced level. I do not teach beginners, sorry about that! (It's just because I haven't had the right training for that). My teaching style is relaxed, patient, and engaging. I make lessons comfortable and interesting for students, but I will also correct your mistakes and challenge you. I respect each student's learning style and can adapt to suit different goals and interests. I believe in a natural, simple approach to improving English ability. For example, if you are worried about an upcoming conversation with your new boss, I will take the role of your boss and we will practice that conversation until you feel confident with it. My classes are usually conversation-based. I don't give lecture classes, and I don't have a curriculum or syllabus, but I always end up talking about grammar, idioms, vocabulary, and pronunciation in the process of having a conversation with students. If you have something specific you need to prepare for, such as an upcoming interview or presentation, I can definitely help you with that! I am also happy to answer any questions you have about material you are learning in other English classes or by yourself, and help with document editing/proofreading. I have a lot of travel experience, especially in Asia, Europe, and Mexico, which has made me comfortable relating to all kinds of people. I enjoy getting to know my students' personalities and cultures, and inspiring them to reach for their dreams! A little about me and my interests: I love reading, writing, philosophy, animals, and music (I play violin). I'm currently living a nomadic life, traveling to a different country every 3 months. All the best! -Sylvie

Hello! I'm Paul and I love English and helping people communicate well. I've spent years teaching and tutoring in Thailand and Vietnam, so I understand the cross-cultural differences of languages and the challenges that all ESL speakers and writers face. I'm CELTA (Cambridge University) certified, and I spent 20 years as a writer and editor for newspapers and magazines in the US, Japan, and Thailand before I began teaching. This means that I have an in-depth knowledge of language as communication: I used it for many years before I began teaching it. My college degree is in English with a concentration on writing. As a former journalist, my specialty is teaching writing: not just written English, but the superior use of it so you can communicate well.

Coupon available for students (message me for the code and explanation) if you buy a package of 5 classes. My name is Mary and I have been teaching ESL for four and a half years. I earned a Bachelor's degree in English from Ohio University (USA) in 2013 with a minor in Linguistics and a TEFL Certification. I then worked for a non-profit organization, Ethiopian Tewahedo Social Services, teaching English to refugees from all over the world. After this position, I travelled to Cuenca, Ecuador and taught for a non-profit organization, CEDEI, for a year and a half. Both job experiences I had in this field prior did not have a lot of options for technology in the classroom but when I can I like to include articles, videos, speeches, use of Microsoft word in the classroom. I have now been teaching on Verbling Inc. for more than a year. I am very excited to continue teaching online to open up the possibilities to have a multi-media classroom. I also think that speaking and listening are the key to fluency and like to put strong emphasis on speaking practice: debates, conversation, and presentations. I also have experience with teaching paragraph structure, essay structure, and different styles of essays. I have taught grammar at all levels, also. I try to keep classes interesting with a mixture of activities and with minimal stress but well rounded knowledge of the language. My policy for missed lessons: I will wait 10 minutes for a student to arrive. If it is the first (or second for regular students) missed class and the student messages me with a reason, I will unschedule the lesson so that the student can reschedule. If this happens more than once or twice I will keep the payment for the wait time and preparation. I understand things happen, so I will forgive, once or twice of course, but I also prepare for the lessons and this is my full time job.

(I will be away Sep. 19-24 with little to no internet access)[For new students: Please contact me before signing up to discuss a few issues. As a matter of policy, I always offer a no-questions-asked, same-day, money-back guarantee, giving either a 50% refund credit or a 100% refund credit, whichever the student asks for.] Hi, my name's Art. I started teaching ESL 33 years ago in Salamanca Spain, then continued part-time while also teaching Spanish as a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University where I received an M.A. in Hispanic Literature in 1988. I retired from another career about 6 years ago when my Venezuelan wife and I moved back to her home country, and here I also happily returned to my first career of teaching ESL. I began teaching here at the university level at the Universidad Arturo Michelena, but then realized I felt called to tutoring one student at a time. I have taught students from age 9- 54 years old, all levels, basic to very advanced. Many of my students were/are preparing for TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge, NATO, or Trinity exams etc. so I have plenty of experience helping there. I got to module 3 of 5 with the ICAL TEFL institute based in London for certification in TEFL, but then realized that those courses are aimed primarily at classroom teaching methods, and have little relevance to one-on-one tutoring. If you want to know my qualifications, I suggest reading the comments of my students. They are the best judges of tutor quality. If you need help with exam preparation, CV editing, job interviews, pronunciation, presentations, etc. I'd be glad to help. Best of luck to you in your English studies, and remember never get discouraged. The key is hard work, and lots of patience and determination. Cheers!

🇬🇧 Hello! I’m an English native speaker from London, England and I am a qualified Trinity (CertTESOL) teacher. 🇬🇧 I have been teaching English since 2014 and believe that the fastest and smartest way to improve fluency and vocabulary is through practice, practice, practice! Do you needs to improve your fluency? Have you studied grammar for years but never had an opportunity to actually SPEAK with a native speaker? Do you work with English speakers and sometimes feel out of depth? You are not alone! Each lesson we will have a different topic using articles or recent news to ensure a wide range of vocabulary is spoken and learnt each class. I can also help you with any grammar needs or exam preparation (I have extensive knowledge of the Cambridge programme). Maybe you’re simply interested in British culture or thinking about moving or studying in the UK… I can share everything I know about my language and culture with you! I am professional and outgoing, creating a very friendly relaxed environment to learn in. I love meeting new students and learning about their experiences. Together we can create a plan that suits you!

Hi, I'm Gregory from New York City. I have 7 years of full-time experience teaching English and earned a Masters degree in TESOL. I'm a native English speaker and have taught students of all ages, including adults, college students, and high school students. I've also held a NY Teacher's License and a NY Registered Business School Teacher's Certificate. I know that learning a new language can be difficult; in fact, I've been a language learner myself! I earned a minor in Spanish while in college and also took two years of Koine Greek and a semester of French. I've studied abroad in Spain for a summer and have spent over a year living the Dominican Republic. That's why I always try to create a safe, positive environment for my students to learn, take risks, and have fun. Fun is exactly what you'll have when you take my classes! I'm outgoing and funny and like using popular themes and topics when teaching. If you want to improve your English fluency and sharpen your language skills, then sign up for one of my classes and I'll see you soon!
