I'm a certified English tutor (TESOL) and a University Teaching Assistant/ PhD Candidate. I have an Engineering and Business background(Petroleum Engineering) with Master's and Bachelor's Degree. I also prepare people for IELTS, TOEFL, CAE and other English Test examinations as well as BUSINESS ENGLISH. To say that I love Teaching will be an understatement. My whole life currently is centered around teaching as I spend the most part of my day teaching university students. My future goal is to work as a University Professor. Teaching a language, unlike teaching technical subjects requires patience, varying techniques and methods that are student-centered and that is one of the reasons I love doing this. It encapsulates the efficient use of the five main senses of human beings and how proper channeling of it can produce a 'wow' effect. I usually take my students through the 4 main skills (speaking, writing, reading, listening). Students will practice pronunciations, intonations , accent reductions and all that there is to English speaking. Improvements of grammar, Use of appropriate vocabulary and active listening skills will all be tackled. To do all of this, I employ the use of relevant teaching methods(role playing, controlled discussions, word drilling, etc), study materials (audios, videos, flashcards, games, etc) and a lot of other procedures..

Hello! My name is Mr. Kat Rogan. I am a native English speaker from the United States and I have been a professional language trainer for over 14 years for all age groups and levels of learning. I started teaching English in China at Dalian Maritime University in 2006. Since that time I have traveled to many countries, and have met and talked to just about every nationality you can think of. As and traveler, educator, and avid learner, the biggest thing I can say I have discovered about myself during this time: I really love languages and cultures. For me, learning languages and about people and their heritage is the "spice of life." This is what truly drives me to be a better person, keep moving forward, and improve at all levels of my life - every day. It's interesting, during these travels and experiences of the past decade-and-a-half, I have learned how to say basic concepts and greetings in at least 10 languages, which is a lot of fun and a big talking point in my day to life. People often ask me what my favorite language is. And after English, of course, I would usually say, it would have to be. 2. Chinese 3. Spanish 4. Thai 5. Japanese 6. Italian 7. Russian And more. (don't forget my adopted brother from Portugal - what's up Duarte) There are many languages! And really love to talk about them! But, at the top of my list is Chinese. I spend a lot of time practicing Chinese. Being a 4000-year-old civilization, there are endless amounts of wisdom, knowledge and culture to be found in this language. So, for me, it's a lifetime journey/mission to understand more about this language, culture, and people. I also love Spanish. Born and raised in the United States, Spanish is my second language. I studied Spanish in high school and university, but I know I need to improve. Though I can understand quite a bit of what is being said in Spanish, my speaking does need some practice. Spanish is spoken quite quickly. So, I know how much I need to improve. I also know how important it is to keep practicing my speaking ability with Spanish, as with any language. Though I am not too bad at speaking languages, I do know the feeling of not being able to speak at the level I would like. So I keep trying to learn new methods and systems of learning. And I really like to learn more about people, and their cultures. This is why I love learning languages. And this is also why I really love my job as a language trainer, teacher, or coach. So I hope to make your acquaintance and have many lessons with you. Kat Rogan Qualifications & Experience My education encompasses a long career as a news reporter and journalist as a Mass Communication student from the University of Utah. I also have a degree in Business Management from Weber State University. My master's education is in Multi-Media Film, MFA. I specialize in all forms of professional communication in business, interviewing, writing, examinations, basic conversation, and kid's phonics training. And I am TEFL certified to teach children. Having been a language trainer and learner for 14 years, I have taught thousands of students from around the world. In my experience, I have developed dedicated lesson planning systems, specifically designed for the student depending on their needs. Interestingly, I have found many ESL students with difficulties reaching their true potential. I have also found traditional models of learning to be rather rigid and outdated for progressive thought in the high-paced technologically-driven communication world we live in today. These issues are very important when it comes to speaking at high levels or high-pressure situations. My system brings together the best learning programs into one comprehensive lesson planning system and is adjustable to each specific need and goal of the learner. Some of my classes have helped my students to pass entry exams, get great jobs, get into great universities, succeed at all levels of speaking, writing, and communication for professional and interpersonal use all while having fun. My classes are fun, and I really love teaching that's why I still do it after all these years. I am a passionate, outgoing, and fun-loving Fulbright scholar currently living and teaching in Santiago de Cali, Colombia. I am incredibly interested in both teaching and education policy. I am a Native English speaker from Boston, United States and have professional experience living and working in New York City. I am fluent in Spanish and highly conversational in French. I studied at the University of Salamanca in Spain and the University of Buenos Aries in Argentina where I fostered my love for experiencing other cultures through language learning and intercultural exchange. While studying in Buenos Aires I worked as a teacher's assistant in a bilingual day school. Working alongside English, Spanish, and Hebrew teachers in 4th and 5th grade classrooms taught me invaluable methodology and techniques as well as gave me a fascinating glimpse into Argentine culture. Not only did this experience solidify my desire to become a teacher, but teaching and observing in another country taught me different strategies and philosophies for learning languages. Upon returning to the United States to finish my degree, I began teaching english at Tree Street Youth, an organization which provides educational services to at risk elementary, middle, and high school students in Lewiston, Maine. Many of these students were immigrants or refugees from Somalia and had very little English ability, and it was a enriching challenge to use the techniques I learned in the classroom in the US, South America, and Europe to effectively stimulate learning. Furthermore, I have experience working on a political campaign, working as a Spanish language interpreter in a Boston prison, and as a legal assistant in the Middlesex District Attorney's office in Lowell, MA. I have worked in coffee shops for 8 years in Boston, New York, Buenos Aires, and Barcelona. My teaching style is interactive, energetic, and largely based on speaking and listening. One of the most important aspects to learning a language is to actually try to speak it! To do this, it is essential to create an open and welcoming environment where students do not feel judged or nervous. While this can be difficult, especially in a virtual setting, I pride myself in fostering an atmosphere where students open up and try. I've found a lot of success with discussing grammar related concepts through the avenue of a shared interest with the student. I frequently incorporate examples of sports, music, politics, television, motives etc to bring the concepts into an area where the student feels comfortable and/or knowledgeable. I enjoy creating games, puzzles, and visual images to use as a tools during a conversation focused lesson. I find myself well suited to teach languages because I've had the experience of learning languages in school, while traveling, while studying abroad, and in my own home. This gives me an understanding of the common challenges faced by students and the successful methods to understand these difficult concepts.
